An overview of Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards
Card Associations, Issuers, and Acquirers have come together with merchants and other organizations involved in the payment industry to establish a set of standards regarding the protection of card holder information that is stored, processed, and transmitted during a transaction. This standard is informally called the PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard). The requirements for each merchant under the PCI DSS vary based on processing method and may include things such as self assessment questionnaires, using validated software applications, and network vulnerability scanning. Please call Merchant Card Services to help you determine your merchant category type and learn more about merchant data security. www.pcisecuritystandards.org www.visa.com/cisp www.matercard.com/sdp www.discovernetwork.com/fraudsecurity/fraudsecurity.html
